Parenting

Parenting doesn’t come with a manual—but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Susan uses Parental Therapy & Support services to blend therapy, practical coaching, and focused intensive sessions to meet families where they are. Led by a therapist with real-world experience as a former teacher, mother, grandmother, and licensed therapist, this work is grounded, compassionate, and no-nonsense. Parents can choose 1-hour therapy sessions, longer intensives, or customized packages that may include in-office or in-home sessions, parent coaching, and in-home evaluations/visits. Whether you need emotional support, clear strategies, or hands-on guidance, services are tailored to help parents feel more confident, supported, and equipped to lead their family well.

Parenting Sessions: What I Offer & How to Choose What’s Right for Your Family

Every family is different. That’s why I offer multiple levels of parenting support, ranging from traditional therapy to hands-on coaching and intensive services. Parents can choose the option that best fits their needs, schedule, and goals—or move between services as those needs change.

1. Parenting Therapy Sessions

Best for: Ongoing emotional support, stress reduction, and deeper family dynamics

Parenting therapy focuses on the emotional side of parenting—your stress, overwhelm, anxiety, guilt, frustration, and the patterns that keep showing up at home. These sessions provide a confidential space to process challenges and build healthier responses.

What this looks like:

  • 60-minute in-office or telehealth sessions

  • Focus on parent stress, burnout, communication, and regulation

  • Support for parents of children and teens

  • Ideal for parents who want consistent support over time

2. Parenting Coaching Sessions

Best for: Practical strategies, skill-building, and clear action steps

Parent coaching is solution-focused and practical. These sessions help parents develop tools they can use immediately—without needing long-term therapy.

What this looks like:

  • 60-minute coaching sessions (in office or virtual)

  • Behavior strategies, routines, boundaries, and communication tools

  • Support for school concerns, transitions, and discipline challenges

  • Direct feedback and clear next steps

3. Parenting Intensive Sessions

Best for: Families who want faster clarity, deeper work, or immediate change

Intensives are longer, focused sessions designed to make meaningful progress in a shorter amount of time. They are especially helpful when families feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin.

Options may include:

  • 90-minute, 3-hour, or 5-hour intensive sessions

  • In-office or in-home intensives (when appropriate)

  • Deep dives into family dynamics, routines, and parenting challenges

  • Collaborative problem-solving with immediate implementation

4. In-Home Parenting Support & Evaluations

Best for: Parents who want real-world observation and guidance at home

Sometimes the most helpful support happens where parenting actually takes place. In-home services allow for observation, coaching, and feedback in your natural environment.

May include:

  • In-home evaluations and observations

  • Parent coaching during real-time routines

  • Support with transitions, behavior challenges, or family structure

  • Practical recommendations tailored to your household

5. Customized Parenting Packages

Best for: Families who want ongoing, comprehensive support

Packages combine therapy, coaching, and in-home services into a structured plan designed around your family’s specific needs.

Packages may include:

  • A mix of office, virtual, and in-home sessions

  • Ongoing coaching and follow-up support

  • Clear goals and measurable progress

  • Flexible scheduling and continuity of care

How to Get Started

Parents can begin with any service level and adjust as needed. Many families start with a single session and move into coaching or an intensive once goals become clearer.

If you’re unsure what type of session is right for your family, I’ll help you decide during your initial contact.

Parenting is hard—but you don’t have to do it alone.
